Child Abuse Pediatrician Needed at the University of Texas in the Beautiful Piney Woods
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is seeking a Pediatric Child Abuse Specialist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Tyler, TX.
The successful candidate will practice in the areas of pediatric child abuse and maltreatment in a clinic and as a hospital consultant. No on-call duties as an abuse pediatrician are anticipated. In addition to the child maltreatment role, opportunities as clinic teaching faculty will be available over time.
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency, and be board certified / eligible in child abuse pediatrics. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
This position will join a newly funded child maltreatment program that will focus on training all disciplines involved in the delivery of services to abused children (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social work, and counseling). This individual would help to grow the outpatient child maltreatment program and participate in inpatient clinical consultations, resident and medical student education, and outreach to Child Advocacy Centers, rural hospitals, and clinics. Provision of legal testimony also is anticipated. Other clinical opportunities would also be incorporated into the faculty position based on interests of the candidate.
